Having a best friend who also happens to be your neighbor may be the best thing ever. Imagine the super-cool sleepovers, tree forts, mani parties and pig out sessions of middle school, only now we are playing real house and can drive (although we don’t have to since we walk to the next place over.) Jackie and her fiance just became our neighbors barely two weeks ago. So far it is working our perfectly –
On grown up game night, no one has to drive. We have an open fridge and pantry policy. Whenever one of us fails to grocery shop in a timely fashion, the other one has the munchies or baking necessity the other needs.
So today, she knew exactly who to come to in a creative bind. As the resident Martha of my group of friends (and the one with the best scrapbooking stash) I was summoned for my creative intuition this afternoon. Few things are better than an unplanned creative session with your best girl friend, paper, stickers, and glitter everywhere…especially when she suckers you into her plan with healthy pita chips and hummus.
I just got her hooked on the Pinterest bandwagon (follow me here!) Jackie found a fabulous idea for a wine basket for her close friend’s bridal shower. She spent over an hour skimming the aisles of our local package store looking for the perfect selections for the baskets. Each bottle represents a milestone in the new couple’s life together, and the bottle is adorned with an adorable poem printed onto a label. Jackie went one step further by selecting bottles with names that complimented the occasion. For example – for the “First Fight” bottle, she picked a wine called “Clean Slate.” This makes the gift even more special, thoughtful, and keeps the price down because the focus is not on price but rather the fun.
We used my scrapbook paper stash to create custom labels for each bottle, and tied them on (no pun intended) with ribbon to match. Besides being a great bonding experience, these bottles looked fabulous! As a great money saver, each member of a bridal party could contribute a bottle, then meet for a decorating session (obviously bring an extra bottle for the event!)
Below I posted the bottle name, wine brand, occasion, poem and a photo!
