If anyone is looking for me this upcoming Small Business Saturday, I’ll be in Killingworth, Connecticut at The Rustic Barn! I recently discovered this farmhouse style home decor shop and I want to take everything home with me. Literally everything.
Owners Lisa and Steve are warm and friendly and incredibly talented individuals. I also got to meet Lisa’s sweet mother who was helping at the store. Lisa makes her own scented soy candles that smell amazing. Steve creates beautiful custom reclaimed wood pieces ranging from small items like coffee mug stands to large hutches and statement furniture. Each piece is custom made from reclaimed wood sourced from local barns all over New England. No two pieces are the same which I love. I am going to be working with Steve to create a custom blanket ladder for an awkward wall in our living room – just in time for Christmas movies under the blanket season!
Around the store, you will find both every day and holiday-specific farmhouse style vignettes ideas. Up until recently, I always struggled with pulling off that clean yet casual farmhouse style in my home and left the store with so many ideas. Lisa has created an atmosphere that any Joanna Gaines enthusiast will love.
I received many questions on my Instagram about pricing – I would compare the prices at the Rustic Barn to some of my favorites like Home Goods, Target, and World Market. Very comparable AND you are getting custom pieces while supporting a small family business.
Check them out this Black Friday for $10 off a $100 purchase! Each month, Lisa features one of her custom homemade scented soy candles for 10% off as well. For November, the scent of the month is Cranberry Marmalade. I got one a few weeks ago and my house smells like Christmas.
