It’s hard to believe that I will be the mom of two boys under two within the next 5.5 weeks. I am BEYOND excited to meet my newest little man, and I’m so proud of my body for what it’s done in the last few years, I am going to skip ahead and just get real. The thought of losing this baby weight is DAUNTING AF. Like, for real. Thinking about it freaks me out. I gained a whooping 15 pounds with Wyatt. This time around, even though I am chasing a toddler and did nothing differenly, my body just wasn’t as forgiving. Mama’s got some work to do.
As a former gym rat, I know exactly what it takes to get there. But I also know that time is not on my side at the moment. In yesterday’s post, I shared with you that my word of the year for 2017 is “LESS” including less excuses. Now, while it is no excuse that I am a busy mom and time is short, getting back into shape is a HUGE priority for me so I know with the right tools I will make it work.
Once I am home and settled I’m committing it to the Whole30 plan. Basically, I’ll be focusing on lean meat, eggs, tons of veggies, fruit and good fats. In college I spent years following a gluten free, dairy free diet. It was hands down the best shape of my life. Without getting into too much TMI, I’ve always had some digestive issues and cutting those things out made a huge difference in all aspects of my well being. I’ve had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies, so I see how sugar affects me too. As I navigate through the resources I recently purchased, I have adopted many of the rules of this program to carry me through these last weeks of pregnancy. So far today I have eaten paleo, and I already feel more energized, content, and my mood is stable with no sugar crashes.
One of my favorite fellow bloggers Lauren McBride created an online Facebook community of her followers to support one another as we delve into the Whole30 and our own versions of healthier choices. Back in college, I was able to hold myself accountable without the help of others, but that is just not the case anymore. I am ok admitting this because at this stage of life, it is who I am. The support surround the Whole30 is amazing, and exactly what I need to see it through. The girls on this page are fantastic! I also followed Whole30 co-creator Melissa Hartwig on social media and her Snapchat stories are chock full of resources, laughs (need those!), and honest tips. I tweeted her a question about a recipe yesterday and she got right back to me. THIS is the kind of program I want to be a part of.
I will be syncing my Whole30 with a 30 day squat challege to get the booty back. I mean, it’s THERE, I just need it to, um, rise up to where it was!
Below, I shared the resources I purchased for the Whole30. In addition, I scooped up the meal planner by Skinnytaste, another one of my favorite bloggers. My planner gets super crapped up with meal planning and ingredient lists. This purse-friendly little book devoted JUST to food will clean that up. Last year I missed the boat on the Blogilates Fit Planner since it sold out so quickly but I jumped the second she posted the 2017 version was available so I got that as well. I am terrible at journaling, as you know, so these are just some extras to help me meet my post baby body goals.
