In my Word for 2017 post, I shared with you that I would be starting the Whole30 after the baby arrives next month. After that ferocious stomach bug from last week, I adopted a Paleo diet for 2 days then went full Whole30 for the last 3 days. I’m super proud of myself for just going for it, and the changes I already see make it so worth it. I’ll take an easier pregnancy for these final five weeks! With my due date around the corner, I started my Stop & Shop Peapod orders again to make life easier. Aside from these weekly orders, there were certain Whole30 compliant pantry staples that I was looking for. I knew just where to go. Trader Joe’s is always my favorite healthy ingredient go-to because the prices are unbeatable.
Whole30 compliant pantry items from yesterday’s Trader Joe’s haul:
- Clarified Butter (Ghee) – $3.99The
- Organic Coconut Oil – $5.49
- Canned Coconut Milk – $1.69
- Salted Creamy Almond Butter – $6.99
- Avocado Oil – $8.99
- Olive Oil with Pour Spout (1 quart) – $7.99
- Pure Almond Meal – $5.99
- Rainbow Peppercorn Grinder – $1.99
- RX Bars – $1.99
I’ve always felt that in addition to meal prepping, it is so important to prepare your kitchen with the right staples so a quick pull-together meal is not more than a few ingredients away. I get bored easily so having these items on hand is the key to beat the repeat blues. They are all big on flavor but low on cost (considering what you would pay elsewhere.) There are many other compliant panty and fridge staples that TJ’s carries for unbeatable prices. Their eggs are $1.29 a dozen and their riced cauliflower sells out crazy fast. I did scoop up the riced broccoli to try. I found compliant proscuitto for my Western Omelet Frittata and complaint canned tomatoes. The Whole30 Cookbook has TONS of ideas for meals using these pantry staples. Pinterest and a Facebook group I belong to has loads of options.
I made these over the last few days:
Sauteed Veggie & Beef Bugers with Crispy Oven Potato Wedges (recipe coming soon)
Western Omelet Frittata (recipe coming soon)
Roasted Spaghetti Squash & Meatsauce Boats (recipe coming soon)
These past three days alone have proven to me how valuable the Whole30 program is to resetting your body and mind. I’ve definitely been going through the Whole30 Timeline. Today is a combination of hangover, kill all the things, and I need a nap, but within a few days it will pass.
