It is hard to believe another month has passed and it is time for another motherhood update! I turned 31 and little man turned 19 months on the 16th. We spent my birthday weekend at Tall Timbers Lodge up in New Hampshire, enjoying the snow and taking in all the wildlife outside of our cabin.
I think it might be time to move up to 3T shirts! All of the 24 month things I recently purchased are too small. 2T seems to fit better – are these sizes technically different – someone help a mama out! His next physical is in February so we will get some numbers.
At 19 months he is most happy when…
he is eating an apple, playing outside, or riding his quad around the house.
He does not like…
to be confined – in a crib, pack n play, baby gate, or high chair.
How is he with other children?
His interactions continue to melt my heart. Lately, he has been extra silly and loves to engage other kids in dancing, laughing, or a huge giggle fest. Wyatt seems to enjoy the role of the ring leader, just like daddy.
How are his relationships with the pets?
Wyatt and the cat, who he now lovingly calls “nee nees,” are the best of friends. Bengal will wait on Wyatt’s bed for nap time and just let him cuddle all over him. In the mornings, Bengal follows Wyatt around and rubs up against his legs. Our beagle seems less and less overwhelmed by him and his high level of energy. Wyatt loves to give Cabo kisses on the snout.
What is the sweetest thing he does?
Wyatt’s new thing is hopping up on the couch and patting the spot next to him to come sit. He especially does this after I come home from some errands. I can’t help but leave the milk on the counter for a few minutes and just go with the request!
Any behavior issues?
Every once in a while sharing can be an issue. Wyatt is definitely in a testing phase and loves to hide behind his toy shelf and wave when he gets caught. He clearly knows he shouldn’t be back there. We did learn the word “no” but thankfully it hasn’t taken over our lives (yet.) Mostly, he uses it to answer questions such as, “are you hungry” or “did you poop.” Ask me again next month and I may have a different answer!
What are the mornings like?
Typically Wyatt and Ev cuddle upstairs while I take a half hour to throw on some makeup and have some time to myself. The look on his face when he sees me first thing in the morning is so precious. After tons of hugs and kisses, he excitedly marches in front of the counter with the fruit stand and asks for an apple while I make breakfast. Wyatt is not a huge fan of going behind the baby gate in the playroom while I cook, so I’ve started including him in the process. He will hold a spoon or spatula, or he stands next to me while I prepare. He is getting more patient while waiting for his breakfast (I think the apple to crunch on helps.)
How is he sleeping?
(contains affiliate links) Wait for it – I am almost nervous to put it in print! He finally sleeps the night! On New Year’s night after his diaper change he crawled up to the pillow in his big boy bed, tucked himsef in and looked at us as if to say, “I’m ready!” He’s been using his Dockatot in his bed and his sleep is like night and day. We also purchased Summer Infant double rails for added security. No more fighting to go down. He sleeps about 12 hours a night during the week and oftentimes 13 hours on the weekend. I started diffusing doterra essential oils around this time too. I always thought oils were a gimmick but I SWEAR by them now.
Any big milestones?
As I mentioned above, Wyatt is finally sleeping through the night 12-13 hours and completely transitioned to his big boy bed. Yesterday was the first time he ever climbed out of his pack n play as well.
How is communicating going?
We have added some more new words this month including: no, apple (said it a few times), hot, moo (for moose), yea, and he will sometimes repeat “pee pees.” We’ve been working on body parts too so he can point to his nose, tongue, eyes, ears, and “piggies.” I keep tell Ev I should probably say “toes” more consistently because this child is forever going to think piggies are on his feet.
Any changes in eating?
We are back on our apple kick! Every morning he runs over the the counter with the fruit stand and goes “OM! OM!” for apple. Since I started a Paleo/Whole
Who is he more like right now?
Overall, mostly daddy. But he does love watching a meal come together which he definitely gets from me.
Wyatt is still big into fondling earlobes when he is tired. Sometimes I don’t even notice when he is doing it anymore! It doesn’t have to be human earlobes either – his stuffed Curious George has lovely ears that stick out and are perfect for the occassion.
