In my word of 2017 post I shared my plans to cut processed crap from our diet. I’ve been following a mostly Whole30 and paleo diet (I just HAD to have some paleo chocolate chip cookies – I am 9 months pregnant after all!) During these final weeks of pregnancy, I have been educating myself on the benefits and recipe testing. This way, I will be ready to fully commit to the Whole30 once baby arrives.
While I am all about homemade as much as possible, let’s be real. In a few short weeks my whole world will be wonderfully turned upside down by a needy little human. Spare time will be hard to find. But, I know when mama’s not good no one’s good so taking care of myself is a huge priority so I can care for my two boys under two. Finding healthy ready-made ingredients and condiments can be a real challenge. They are typically loaded with sugar, fillers, additives, unhealthy fats, and sodium.
I was so thrilled to find Primal Kitchen, a brand that supports those looking for delicious marinades and sauces that are special-diet compliant. I’ve always been a condiment fan as they boost flavor so much. But the more I research, I realize many of these ready made products are chemical and bad stuff crap storms that pile on calories and sugar in place of genuine health-boosting ingredients. Healthy ingredients can be expensive, and there is nothing worse than attempting to make your own mayo or dressing only to have it come out TERRIBLY. All that wasted money!
After food blogging for 11 years, I know first-hand the importance of flavor. If I am going to commit to a way of eating, the food needs to nourish the body but also have flavor. As a mother in my early 30s, I want what I put on my food to be delicious, support my health and also make my food interesting. I know I will eat more carrot sticks if I have a compliant dressing to dip them in.
Mark Sisson, the creator of Primal Kitchen, is super passionate about his products and his story is truly inspiring. All ingredients used in Primal Kitchen products are carefully selected for their health benefits, taste, quality, and pytonutrient potency. They are free of fillers, additives, chemicals, and synthetic poor quality oils.
If you are starting or following a Whole30 diet, a great place to start is their Whole30 Kit which features compliant dressings, mayos and extra virgin avocado oil. As a pregnant and soon-to-be nursing mom, I am a big fan of these paleo Coconut Cashew Bars. Although they are not Whole30 compliant, they are a great paleo snacking alternative for a quick fix. I’ve recently become a huge fan of cooking and dressing with avocado oil. I love the health benefits and clean flavor. And again as a nursing mom that healthy fat will help keep milk supply up.
Primal Kitchen has been awesome enough to offer my readers the opportunity to win their Whole30 Kit! It includes their Greek and Ranch Dressings, Extra Virgin Avocado Oil, a regular Mayo as well as a Chipotle Lime Mayo. Use the widget to enter below. Good luck!
